Music Monday

It's been a while since I've posted one of these, mainly because I was gone for several weeks; sick. But now that I am back I want to start this segment up once more. This song is called 'Overcomer' and it's by Mandisa. My mom came across this song a few weeks ago while scrolling through her Facebook feed.

I did not post the lyrics, since they are in the video. During these past few weeks while I was still healing, I kept this song on repeat on my iPod. I felt like it was hopeless several times during these past few weeks and I wasn't sure what would happen. This song helped to remind me that I'm an overcomer, helped to remind me that I have already come this far - why stop fighting now?

So if you're going through a rough patch in your life and you just can't seem to find a light at the end of the tunnel just remember that you may be down for a moment, but you're an overcomer. You are going to get through whatever it is you're going through. "Don't quit, don't give in, you're an overcomer."

Hope and Love,
Becca

Music Monday - "Brave"

There are times when we have something we want to say, but for one reason or another, we bite our tongues and keep it to ourselves. There are times when we are used and hurt by the same people over and over again; and all we want to do is tell them that how they are treating us is wrong and that we aren't going to stand for it anymore. And yet something inside of us keeps it inside, bottling it up for their benefit.

As I write this, I am thinking of one specific person in my life who has given everything and then some to the people in her life but she gets nothing but resentment back. For years she has kept her feelings to herself and rarely tells anyone 'no'. When I was younger, I didn't notice the emotional toll that this had on her, but now I do and it makes my heart break for her. This woman has done nothing but helped people who have in turn stabbed her in the back and walked all over her without any concern for her and how she feels.

So mom, if you're reading this; this song is dedicated to you. I want you to be able to tell people how you feel for once. I want you to be able to get it all out and for the first time ever, do something for yourself and don't think about how it'll hurt someone else's feelings. Tell people how you feel and let them know that you matter too.
To my readers, please do this as well. If you're sitting there thinking that you don't let your voice be heard enough. Or if you think that you've put aside your own needs for someone else for too long, read and listen to this song. Be brave and tell people how you feel. Be brave and take some time for yourself.

* The words in bold are lyrics that I think are inspiring.

"Brave" - Sara Bareilles

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

Everybody’s been there, everybody’s been stared down
By the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
Innocence, your history of silence
Won’t do you any good
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don’t you tell them the truth?

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you

Love,
Becca

Musical Monday

It's been a while since I've posted a song that I find inspirational or up beat. With all of the things that have been going on lately, I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to post songs that were inspiring when I myself felt down in the dumps. Now that I think about it, maybe if I had listened to upbeat songs on my iPod and posted them on my blog, it might of helped me cope with all of the news and complications in my life.
But now that I have had some time to take a few deep breaths, calm myself down and realize that I have enough time to think and figure this whole thing out - I can enjoy myself and actually be happy again.

It was a few days ago when I was on vacation when I heard this song on the radio and although it is a break up song, it is one of the happiest break up songs I have ever heard. It has an upbeat tempo and the chorus is perfect to remind us when we need to be reminded that you can still be happy - even if something not so good happens that day, you can still enjoy it. Sure the example of still being happy even after a break up may not be as serious as the problems people are facing in their everyday life, but take Michael BublĂ©'s advice and just enjoy the beautiful day.

"It's A Beautiful Day"
Michael Bublé

I don't know why
You think that you could hold me
When you couldn't get by by yourself
And I don't know who
Would ever want to tear the seam of someone's dream
Baby, it's fine, you said that we should just be friends
Well, I came up with that line and I'm sure
That it's for the best
If you ever change your mind, don't hold your breath

'Cause you may not believe, mmm mmm mmm
That baby, I'm relieved, mmm
When you said goodbye, my whole world shined

Hey hey hey
It's a beautiful day and I can't stop myself from smiling
If we're drinking, then I'm buying
And I know there's no denying
It's a beautiful day, the sun is up, the music's playing
And even if it started raining
You won't hear this boy complaining

'Cause I'm glad that you're the one who got away
It's a beautiful day

It's my turn to fly, so girls, get in line
'Cause I'm easy, no playing this guy like a fool
Now I'm alright
Might've had me caged before, but not tonight

And you may not believe, mmm mmm
That baby, I'm relieved
This fire inside, it burns too bright

I don't want to say "so long," I just want to say "goodbye"

It's a beautiful day and I can't stop myself from smiling
If we're drinking, then I'm buying
And I know there's no denying
It's a beautiful day, the sun is up, the music's playing
And even if it started raining
You won't hear this boy complaining

'Cause I'm glad that you're the one who got away, mmm mmm

'Cause if you ever think I'll take up
My time with thinking of our break-up
Then you've got another thing coming your way
'Cause it's a beautiful day, mmm mmm
Beautiful day, oh, baby, any day that you're gone away
It's a beautiful day

Music Monday "Catch My Breath"

When I first heard this song, I was in the radio and I only heard the chorus before it ended. The chorus is what spoke to me the most and I immediately thought of my friends with CHD and the lung disease called Pulmonary Hypertension  and how we all at points in our life (maybe even daily!) struggle to catch our breaths.

When I got home, I bought song on iTunes and listened it from start to finish. The very first verse is what spoke to me the most: "I don't wanna be left behind." There are times in my life, as I'm sure in others, that I have felt left behind because of my illness. People would forget that I can't keep up, and they'd run ahead without me. Or I'd miss out on some amazing and fun things that my friends and family did because I was stuck in the hospital. There are times when I have felt left behind and I worry when I'm in the hospital, will I ever be able to make up for lost time? I can't get back all those months spent in a hospital bed away from home, and that is what stinks the most about being "left behind."

But I think this song can relate to even healthy people. There are times in everyone's life where life gets overwhelming and you have to take a break, catch your breath, and then continue on your way. So here is my advice to you in the words of Kelly Clarkson: catch you breath, no one can hold you back and don't let them get you down. No matter what it is, catch your breath, don't hold back and keep going.

"Catch My Breath" Kelly Clarkson

I don't wanna be left behind
Distance was a friend of mine
Catching breath in a web of lies
Shadowboxing the other half
Learning how to reactI've spent most of my time
Catching my breath, letting it go, turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life, I won't be told it's supposed to be right
Catch my breath, no one can hold me back, I ain't got time for that
Catch my breath, won't let them get me down, it's all so simple now
Addicted to the love I found
Heavy heart, now a weightless cloud
Making time for the ones that count
I'll spend the rest of my timeLaughing hard with the windows down
Leaving footprints all over town
Keeping faith kinda comes around
I'll spent the rest of my life
Catching my breath, letting it go, turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life, I won't be told it's supposed to be right
Catch my breath, no one can hold me back, I ain't got time for that
Catch my breath, won't let them get me down, it's all so simple now
You helped me see
The beauty in everything
Catching my breath, letting it go, turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life, I won't be told it's supposed to be right
Catching my breath, letting it go, turning my cheek for the sake of this show
Now that you know, this is my life, I won't be told what's supposed to be right
Catch my breath!
Catch my breath, no one can hold me back, I ain't got time for that
Catch my breath, won't let them get me down, it's all so simple now (it's all so simple now!)
Catching my breath, letting it go, turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life, I won't be told it's supposed to be right
Catch my breath, no one can hold me back, I ain't got time for that
Catch my breath, won't let them get me down, it's all so simple now
I've spent most of my life
Riding waves, playing acrobat

Music Monday "Stronger" by Kelly Clarkson

I'm sure that we have all heard the saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." I have not always believed this saying. When I was a kid, I took it literally and that's where my confusion first came from. How could have CHD and Pulmonary Hypertension make me stronger if it actually makes my body so weak? Reason number one why I didn't believe it.

Then I got older, and I realized it was a metaphor. It meant once we went through the tough parts, we came out on the other side stronger emotionally. That we had survived. But there were times in my life when I didn't feel like I came out from the other side emotionally stronger. In fact I felt torn down, beaten and down right depressed. Reason number two why I didn't believe it.

But then I got a little older and I saw that as I moved on from the things that happened to me and I became happy again, I was stronger. I had better coping mechanisms this time around. I knew who I could turn to when I needed help. I was better equipped to deal with the things going on in my life and it was harder for life to knock me down now than it was in the past. That's why I truly, whole heartily believe this saying. While you may not be strong right afterwards... eventually, you will be. May take a few months... or like me, years. But you will get there. You will be strong again. And you will be happy again.

Now this song is context to her boyfriend leaving her, but if you ignore that one part, you will see how this whole song can relate to the ups and downs we all face in life and how they can make us stronger; if we allow them to.

I have put in bold the parts of the song I think are the most inspirational.

"Stronger" Kelly Clarkson

You know the bed feels warmer
Sleeping here alone
You know I dream in colour
And do the things I want
You think you got the best of me
Think you had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby you don't know me, cause you're dead wrong
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you'r gone
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
You heard that I was starting over with someone new
They told you I was moving on and over you
You didn't think that I'd come back
I'd come back swinging
You try to break me
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you'r gone
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
Thanks to you I got a new thing started
Thanks to you I'm not a broken hearted
You know in the end the day to left was just my beginning
In the end...
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller

Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter Footsteps even lighte
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you'r gone
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller

Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller

Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
When I'm alone

Music Monday - My Own Creation

Alright, sorry this is a day late. However this is a song that I wrote. Sort of. I took a popular pop song called 'Tik Tok' by Ke$ha and I changed some of the words around so it talked about being in the hospital for open heart surgery. Now just to let you all know, the original song is about a girl getting drunk and partying all night. It has an amazing beat, but it is definietly not what I would consider inspiring. But it's upbeat so when it came up on my iPod when I had it on shuffle, I couldn't stop myself from changing some of the words around. Let me know what you think!
An edited version of "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha

Wake up in the mornin' feelin' really fatigued

Grab ma over-night bag I'm out the door I'm gonna hit the ICU
Before I leave chug my medication
'Cuz when I leave for surgery I may not come back

I'm talkin pulse ox on our toes toes
Tryin on all the hospital gowns (gowns)
nurses blowin' up our IVs (IVs)

Relaxing to our favorite CD’s
Goin up to the anesthesiologist
Tryna get a little bit tipsy

[CHORUS]
Don't stop, make it work
Doctor, blow my stents up
Tonight, Im'ma fight
Till we see the sunlight
TiK ToK, on the clock
But the surgery don't stop no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh

Don't stop, make it work
Docor, blow my stents up
Tonight, Im'ma fight
Till we see the sunlight
TiK ToK, on the clock
But the surgery don't stop no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh

We gotta care, and got plenty of pain medicine
Aint got no money in my pocket, but insurance is there
Now, the doctors are lining up cause they wanna hear our irregular heart
But we kick em to the curb unless they look like Mc’Dreamy

[CHORUS]
Don't stop, make it work
Doctor, blow my stents up
Tonight, Im'ma fight
Till we see the sunlight
TiK ToK, on the clock
But the surgery don't stop no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh

Don't stop, make it work
Doctor, blow my stents up
Tonight, Im'ma fight
Till we see the sunlight
TiK ToK, on the clock
But the surgery don't stop no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh

[BRIDGE]
You build me up
You break me down
My heart, it pounds
Yeah, you got me
With my hands up
You got me now
You got that stethoscope
Yeah, you got me

You build me up
You break me down
My heart, it pounds
Yeah, you got me
With my hands up
Put your hands up
Put your hands up

Now, the surgery don't start till I get wheeled in

[CHORUS]
Don't stop, make it work
Doctor, blow my stents up
Tonight, Im'ma fight
Till we see the sunlight
TiK ToK, on the clock
But the surgery don't stop no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh

Don't stop, make it work
Doctor, blow my stents up
Tonight, Im'ma fight
Till we see the sunlight
TiK ToK, on the clock
But the surgery don't stop no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh

Music Monday - Grammy's Inspired

The lead singer of the group I chose for this week’s inspirational song told people at the Grammy’s last night that his group had been working hard and been up until recently unknown for the past 12 years. And I think that their song ‘Carry On’ probably means a lot to me in the sense that they never gave up. For 12 years, they continued on and they kept working until they got to where they are today. So I wanted to share this song with you. No matter what is going on in your life, carry on. Things may be hard now, but in order to get through the bad times, you must keep going. You must carry on. My favorite post of the song is the chorus:

"If you're lost and alone Or you're sinking like a stone Carry on May your past be the sound Of your feet upon the ground Carry on”

May your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground is a beautiful metaphor that they use to tell people to just keep moving. Keep walking forward, away from your past. Do not let it define you. Carry on. Keep going.

One of the parts of the song that speaks to me beside the chorus is:
“So I met up with some friends At the edge of the night At a bar off 75 And we talked and talked About how our parents will die Our neighbors and wives”

It’s morbid, I know. But, my heart friends and I have talked more than once about death, and how we know we are more likely to die young than our healthy friends and family members. It scares us but when we talk about it, we are able to get out our feelings about it. When we talk about it, we reassure each other that we are not alone and that we all feel the same way about this topic.

So the next time you’re feeling down, turn on this upbeat song and just “Carry On”.

Carry On by FUN.

Well I woke up to the sound of silence Cries cutting like knives in a fist fight And I found you with a bottle of wine Your head in the curtains And heart like the Fourth of July
You swore and said "We are not We are not shining stars" This I know I never said we are
Though I've never been through hell like that I've closed enough windows To know you can never look back
If you're lost and alone Or you're sinking like a stone Carry on May your past be the sound Of your feet upon the ground Carry on
Carry on, carry on
So I met up with some friends At the edge of the night At a bar off 75 And we talked and talked About how our parents will die Our neighbours and wives
But I like to think I can cheat it all To make up for the times I've been cheated on And it's nice to know When I was left for dead I was found and now I don't roam these streets I am not the ghost you are to me
If you're lost and alone Or you're sinking like a stone Carry on May your past be the sound Of your feet upon the ground Carry on
Whoa My head is on fire But my legs are fine After all they are mine Lay your clothes down on the floorClose the door Hold the phone Show me how No one’s ever gonna stop us tonight
'Cause we are We are shining stars We are invincible We are who we are On our darkest day When we’re miles away Sun will come We will find our way home
If you're lost and alone Or you're sinking like a stone Carry on May your past be the sound Of your feet upon the ground Carry on
Oooh. Oooh Oooh Oooh
(No one's ever gonna stop us tonight) (No one's ever, no one's ever gonna stop, no one's ever gonna stop us tonight) (No one's ever, no one's ever gonna stop, no one's ever gonna stop, no one's ever gonna stop us tonight)
Hope and Love,
Becca

Music Monday - Superbowl Inspired

I decided since yesterday Beyonce and Destiny's Child performed at the Superbowl during half time (and blew a fuse!), I would dive deep into the archives of my iPod and pick a song from Destiny's Child that I have always found inspiring to me. Yes the song is written about how she left her ex-boyfriend and doesn't need him, but there are several verses in the song that I think can apply to more than just that one situation. The song is called Survivor and I have put in bold the versus I think others will find motivating as well.
"Survivor" by Destiny's Child
Now  that you're out of my life
I'm so much better

You thought that I'd be weak without you

But I'm stronger

You thought that I'd be broke without you

But I'm richer
You thought that I'd be sad without you
I laugh harder

You thought I wouldn't grow without you

Now I'm wiser
Though that I'd be helpless without you
But I'm smarter

You thought that I'd be stressed without you

But I'm chillin'
You thought I wouldn't sell without you
Sold 9 million

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm not goin' give up (What?)
I'm not goin' stop (What?)
I'm goin' work harder (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm goin'na make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm not goin' give up (What?)
I'm not goin' stop (What?)
I'm goin' work harder (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm goin' make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)

Thought I couldn't breathe without you

I'm inhaling
You thought I couldn't see without you
Perfect vision

You thought I couldn't last without you

But I'm lastin'
You thought that I would die without you
But I'm livin'

Thought that I would fail without you

But I'm on top
Thought it would be over by now
But it won't stop

Thought that I would self destruct

But I'm still here
Even in my years to come
I'm still goin' be here

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm not goin' give up (What?)
I'm not goin' stop (What?)
I'm goin' work harder (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm goin'na make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm not goin' give up (What?)
I'm not goin' stop (What?)
I'm goin' work harder (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm goin'na make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)
I'm wishin' you the best
Pray that you are blessed
Bring much success, no stress, and lots of happiness
(I'm better than that)

I'm not goin' blast you on the radio

(I'm better than that)
I'm not goin' lie on you and your family
(I'm better than that)

I'm not goin' hate on you in the magazines

('m better than that)
I'm not goin' compromise my Christianity
(I'm better than that)

You know I'm not goin' diss you on the internet

'Cause my mama taught me better than that

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm goin'na make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm not goin' give up (What?)
I'm not goin' stop (What?)
I'm goin' work harder (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm goin' make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)

Oh (oh) oh (oh)...

After of all of the darkness and sadness

Soon comes happiness
If I surround my self with positive things
I'll gain prosperity

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm not goin' give up (What?)
I'm not goin' stop (What?)
I'm goin' work harder (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)

I'm goin' make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)

Music Monday

This song is a love song, but if you take that factor out of it, the lyrics can mean so much more than not giving up on love. The song talks about not giving up on "us" but us could mean more than just two people in a relationship. "I won't give up on us" could mean not giving up on humanity. Not giving up on the people who are trying to change this world. This song, if you look at it closely has greater meaning than just a boy who is saying he won't give up on a relationship.

One of my favorite parts of the song is this:
"I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got."

This song means more than just a romance. This song and those lyrics particularly talks about making a change and realizing that having people be different from one another is a good thing. We can learn from our differences and we each have our own different gifts that we can use. Don't give up on us. Don't give up on those of us who are different. Don't give up on those of us who are working to make a difference in this world. Don't give up on people. Don't give up on this world. We can and we will make a difference. "I am still looking up", good things and good changes will come. We can't give up now. I have put the lyrics that I think have wonderful meaning in bold.

 "I Won't Give Up"
 By Jason Mraz

When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
Well there's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I won't give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use the tools and gifts
We got yeah we got a lot at stake
And in the end,
You're still my friend at least we didn't tend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn, how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I got, and what I'm not
And who I am

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
I'm still looking up

I won't give up on us
God knows I'm tough, he knows
We got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up...

Music Monday

Hey everyone,

I know that I have not posted in a few days and I wanted to apologize. We had our annual winter party for families who have children with CHD and/or other special needs. It went really well and it was so much fun to see my camp friends and the CHD community. Although we have not seen each other in a year, it is as if no time has passed and we all take off right where we left off. It's an amazing community where everyone is loved, accepted and understood. You can feel the love the moment you meet this amazing group of people. And that is what inspired me to choose the song that I have chosen for today. Seasons Of Love by the Rent Cast. As we move into the Holidays, I want us all to remember that this time of the year is not about the presents or the cookies we get to eat. It's about the love that this time of year represents. Instead of "measuring your life" by what you have or don't have, measure it with love; and how much love you give to others. Even those who are different than you. And remember - there is an S at the end of the Season. It's plural. Meaning, all year round we should be sharing the love. Not just this Holiday season.

"Seasons of Love"  - Rent Cast

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?

In daylights, in sunsets
In midnights, in cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife
In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, a year in the life?

How about love?
How about love?
How about love?
Measure in love

Seasons of love
Seasons of love

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand journeys to plan
[From: http://www.elyrics.net]

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?

In truths that she learned
Or in times that he cried
In bridges he burned
Or the way that she died

It's time now, to sing out
Though the story never ends
Let's celebrate
Remember a year in the life of friends

Remember the love
(Oh, you got to, you got to remember the love)
Remember the love
(You know that life is a gift from up above)
Remember the love
(Share love, give love, spread love)
Measure in love
(Measure, measure your life in love)

Seasons of love
Seasons of love
(Measure your life, measure you life in love)
So instead of wishing you a Merry Christmas or a Wonderful Holiday Season. I want to wish you guys a wonderful year and hope you all have Seasons of Love. By giving and recieving love.

Hope and Love,

Becca

Music Monday

I want to thank all of you who wished me get well wishes, I really appreciate them all. I took some more asthma medications and did the breathing treatments more often, so I was able to kick this asthma problem in the butt which is good. Usually my asthma problems can last for a while but since I caught it early and started working on it, I was better in a week. Just in time to post a song for Music Monday!

So last night I went to my little sister's church choir concert and they sang this song at the end. I was so close to tears as was my mom. I knew that I had to share this song with you. It's called 'Go Light Your World' by Chris Rice.

There is a candle in every soul
Some brightly burning, some dark and cold
There is a spirit who brings a fire
Egnites a candle, and makes his home

Carry your candle
Run to the darkness
Seek out the helpless, confused and torn
And hold out your candle
For all to see it
Take your candle and go light your world
Take your candle and go light your world

Frustrated brother, see how he's tried to
Light his own candle some other way
See now your sister she's been robbed and lied to
Still holds a candle, without a flame

Carry your candle
Run to the darkness
Seek out the lonely, the tired and worn
And hold out your candle
For all to see it
Take your candle and go light your world
Take your candle and go light your world

(hey now..nanananana)

Cuz we are a family
Whose hearts are blazing
So lets raise our candles and light up the sky
Prayin to our Father in the name of Jesus
Make us a beacon in darkest times

Carry your candle
Run to the darkness
Seek out the hopeless, deceived and
Hold out your candle
For all to see it
Take your candle and go light your world
Take your candle and go light your world

(hey now nanananana)

Hold out your candle
For all to see it
Take out your candle and go light your world
Take your candle and go light your world
Take your candle and go light your world

(hey now nanananana)
Take your candle, hold it high and help light the world. One flame can start a fire. Will your candle help spread the fire of change, love, understanding and acceptance? Will you light your candle and help bring light back into this world? Hold out your candle for all to see, and go light your world.

Hope and Love,
Becca

Music Monday

I heard this song twice on the radio today. The first time I thought to myself, 'Oh this would be a good song for the music Monday segment I do.' But then on my way home, I heard it again and I knew I had to post it for this week's Music Monday.

This song is a great reminder that things can and do get better. Don't lose hope and keep on going, things won't always be bad. I have a friend who last week told me about their depression and how things just weren't good for them right now. If you are in that same spot as my friend where you just want to quit or give up, listen to this song, read the words, and remember that things can and do get better.

"Every Storm (Runs out of Rain)" - Gary Allan

I saw you standing in the middle of the thunder and lightning
I know you're feeling like you just can't win, but you're trying
It's hard to keep on keepin' on, when you're being pushed around
Don't even know which way is up, just keep spinning down, 'round, down…

Every storm runs, runs out of rain

Just like every dark night turns into day
Every heartache will fade away
Just like every storm runs, runs out of rain

So hold your head up and tell yourself that there's something more

Walk out that door
Go find a new rose, don't be afraid of the thorns
'Cause we all have thorns
Just put your feet up to the edge, put your face in the wind
And when you fall back down, keep on rememberin'

Every storm runs, runs out of rain

Just like every dark night turns into day
Every heartache will fade away
Just like every storm runs, runs out of rain

It's gonna run out of pain

It's gonna run out of sting
It's gonna leave you alone
It's gonna set you free
Set you free

Every storm runs, runs out of rain

Just like every dark night turns into day
Every heartache will fade away
Just like every storm runs, runs out of rain

It's gonna set you free,

It's gonna run out of pain,
It's gonna set you free
